Recipe – Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

Watching Pasta always makes my mouth watery. I’m really curious about Yoo Kyoung’s first ‘official’ dish, aglio e olio, so simple yet seems delicious. Hence, I search around the web for recipe, and I found one on Rachel Ray’s website.

This is the original recipe from Rachel Ray (I haven’t tried it yet). I’ll post later with pics after I do it 😀

Spaghetti Aglio Olio Recipe

Ingredients :

  • Salt
  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
  • 1 container imported Italian anchovy fillets with red pepper flakes (2 ounces) – if you can’t find these, use regular anchovies and add 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 6-8 large cloves garlic
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped flat leaf parsley
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 loaf crusty bread

Pasta – Final Review

Finally I got some time to write my review. So busy and exhausted in last few days (T.T)

Pasta starts rather slow-paced, and like I said on my first impression, I don’t like the story telling style. It killing me to watch this “light” drama with “close attention”. Each characters’ background was neither explained clearly, nor their relationship.

Brief Summary

Seo Yoo Kyung is a newly promoted cook assistant in La Sfera. She finds herself being fired by the new chef, Choi Hyun Wook, only because she is a female cook. Persistent of going back to the kitchen, she practices hard making the most simplest pasta, aglio e olio (pasta with garlic and olive oil). She gets her job back after successfully auditioned by the Chef (blind-foldedly, of course).

Meanwhile, the new Chef is bringing his team from Italy. He tries to change the kitchen values / menus with his Italian ways. This pissed off the Korean cooks, who have been working longer than him. The kitchen is divided to 2 faction, Italian team and Korean team (although all of them are Koreans), and brings dispute to the kitchen. More

Pasta – 1st Impression

I watched Pasta simply because I like pasta, and I thought that a drama which won Best Couple Award  (2010 MBC Drama Award) couldn’t be that bad. On the first episode, I love the idea about saving-a-goldfish-although-it-only-has-2-seconds-memory-long scene. I also like the atmosphere they build when all the chef are busy preparing foods. (Never imagine that a high-class restaurant kitchen is really like a high-speed-dish-maker-factory kind of thing).

The female lead character, Seo Yoo Kyung (Gong Hyo Jin) is somewhat typical, slow but diligent and persistent kind of girl. And the guy lead character, Choi Hyun Wook (Lee Sun Gyun) is not that special either (except for the saving goldfish part, I don’t know why I impressed with that), he’s good at his job and always looks down at his underlings (omo, but I love his sexy voice <3).
